Subtitled "Discovering the Hidden Meaning of The Lord of the Rings", this little book (142 pages of roomy text with some illustrations) by Joseph Pearce (and this copy was apparently signed by Pearce - 2017 'for Jeanne'), gets down to the religious roots of Tolkien's work by literary analysis, with little of the evangelical padding used by other more preachy religious 'looks' at Middle-earth. Pearce seems to have a firm handle on showing the basic Christian roots of the tale, which Tolkien himself called "a fundamentally religious and Catholic work".
