I was sitting around, wondering what to post today, when this animated special came to mind. Maybe because of the windy weather, maybe because of the seasonal change. I remember that in those days, animation seemed a pretty rare bit of television fare; we tended to watch whatever came on. It impressed me as deeply melancholy, not at all having the knockabout buoyancy of most children’s fare. Although it came out in the early 1970’s it strikes me as the last gasp 1960’s classical wistfulness, from its music to its cross-hatched, water-colored artwork.
