Back when Bakshi's The Lord of the Rings came out, that first image was everywhere. It was in magazines, in the newspaper, and, of course, on theater marquees. I lusted to have that poster, even though it wasn't a particularly representative image. I didn't even know about the second until we went to the Texas Theater to see the second release; then I really wanted that one, too. I seem to remember even asking for it, but being told it was already promised to somebody else. But I can still remember waiting outside the theater and gazing upon it with surprise and yearning.
