I know exactly when I got that Sherlock Holmes Treasury thanks to one of my old journals. I've included the Poe because he has a good claim to have invented the detective story. There are a few more of those Ffordes in the 'Jurisfiction' series; they combine mystery and fantasy. I'm not surprised that someone used Dr. Johnson as a detective; his historical character was one of the inspirations for Sherlock Holmes, along with Dr. John Bell.
