"The Source of Magic" was one of the first books I ever bought on my own. It wasn't completely reprehensible, and by nature I am a completist and want to know what happened next. Sheer inertia kept me buying Xanth books until "The Color of Her Panties", and that was enough for me. I still have the first three books of the series (mostly for nostalgia).
