The Wolves in the Walls and
The Day I Swapped My Dad for Two Goldfish, by Neil Gaiman (illustrated
by Dave McKean).
I don’t know what I expected physically of these thin little books (56 and 64 pages respectively, and both slightly under 10 inches square); perhaps something more in line with Coraline or even Mirrormask (both of which McKean also illustrated). But those expectations are on me. What I did get were a couple of enjoyable short tales, quirky, humorous, tricksy, and full of good advice for children of any age, although maybe designed to speak especially to those under eleven or so. To summarize the stories here would be to almost retell them.
