R. U. R. (Rossum's Universal Robots) by Karel Capek. The play that introduced the world to the term 'robot' ('worker'). I bought it because I was interested in the roots of Science Fiction; I found it at the time duller than I can express. There are many nicer editions, but as usual I found only the most obscure and grottiest one; I could find only one picture of it on the internet. Perhaps it was just the fashion of the times.
