My
report card cover from grade school. This is probably my earliest drawing that still exists. It was preserved by pure chance, and I only found out it existed when we cleared out Mom and Pop's old house. On the back in block and cursive writing:

I guess I wasn't as smart as I seem to remember. This was either 2nd or 3rd grade. If it's 2nd grade, that makes it more forgivable. But then I suppose intelligence doesn't always equal ability. I went on to have something of a short-lived reputation as a sketcher (I was voted Best Artist in my senior year of high school, somehow). My drawing slowed down and pretty much stopped a few years ago, though I guess if I buckled down I could probably produce something.
