Another piece of family art that the fathomless sea of Susan's storage has given up. Painted by our grandmother Sylvia Doiron, it hung behind the couch in the living room at Loop Drive for donkey's years. It's undated, but easily over 60 years old. While Nanny had trouble rendering anything that looked alive and her perspective was problematic, I do have to say she did have a talent for almost transparent, gemlike mountains in some backgrounds. The many times I had to carefully dust this picture, or stared wistfully at that curved road, wanting to escape down it away from boring JW meetings!
