When he was sixteen, Taryn was a Mad Lad on the streets of Morg City. After he stole Sergeant Roth's supper one day, the Morg swore he would track him down and catch him. He finally cornered him in one of the City's dangerous sewers, and after they escaped, Roth convinced Taryn to join the army. Thus began the illustrious career that would lead him to becoming King Taryn, the first Human ruler of Morg City and overlord of Forlan. Roth looks particularly grim and his beard a little short.
