Over time, of course, toys will break. Sometimes it is because of design weaknesses or fragile materials, or sometimes it’s just the result of years of playing. Occasionally a dog gets hold of something and then does what dogs do. In the old days when something broke Mom would just throw it away, no matter what our feelings were. When we got old enough to protest that happened a lot less and then not at all. After a while I began to hoard all the broken bits of the action figures, in the vain hope that they might someday be repaired. But in the meantime, they can at least be remembered. Included here are Keiko O’Brien and the Borg Queen from Star Trek, the ‘King’ from Supernaturals (more on them later), figures from Buck Rogers (MEGO, 1978 – very fragile construction), ‘Uncle Owen’ from Fisher Price Adventure People, some McFarlane figures, and a pair of legs from Space: 1999. Included is ‘Bill the Pony’s’ brother, with not a leg to stand on.
